Giuseppe Zelioli´s profile: musician inspired

Giuseppe Zelioli was born in Caravaggio (Bergamo) on 13 March 1880 by Peter Gaetano (1828-1910) and daTeresa Chimera (1844-1917). His father, organist of the Basilica and Shrine of Caravaggio, descended from a family of musicians. He was a soloist to the talented composer and appreciated. It is still remembered for his opera "Anne of Dovara", represented in Milan, and many pages polyphonic.
Giuseppe Zelioli father studied at the school and graduated and perfected in Piano, Organ and Composition. He entered the young artistic life. Just nine years was a respected organist village of "low" Lombardia: CASIRATE d'Adda. In 1904, ventiquattrenne, attended by many colleagues in the competition for the allocation of office of organist of the Basilica of Lecco. Won by acclamation. Wanted the city Lariana was his seat of choice then spent his entire working life. The musical activities of Giuseppe Zelioli followed broad and intense, he was organist, pianist, teacher, composer of polyphonic sacred high scores and profane, of pieces dedicated to the piano. His first public presentation took place at Caravaggio in 1902 for the celebrations in honor of Michael Angelo Merisio, Caravaggio, and then wrote a "Hymn to Michelangelo" for chorus, two pianos alone and that he himself directed the executing piano. Since those distant days he participated actively in the movement for liturgical reform. Giuseppe wanted Zelioli sacred music and the church as one of the most noble of elevation to God because his speech was a musical language unit of prayer and trusting the Lord and love the sincere expression of his feelings at every emotion of life. All of the compositions include 13 Masses, Motets and many sacred songs, 7 Sacred Works complete; Quaderni and concert pieces for piano, vocal pieces and instrumental profane: in particular, trios and quartets.
Among the sacred works are complete to remember: "The Good Shepherd", an act, and two paintings, "The Songs for the Passion of Christ" made in 1921 that he added (1949) a motet-true masterpiece - "Tenebrae sunt fact" to 4 voices "The friends of Jesus" triptych of a gently melodic "The Resurrection" cantata-oratorio (1923) inspired all'inno manzoni Cinquantenaire and executed in the death of the great novelist. Zelioli Giuseppe, who had not, despite reminders and requests, never wanted to move away from Lecco, died there on 18 October 1949.
The re-start of his music in the'80s, continues to work and the heirs of Harmonia Gentium music as well as numerous Italian and foreign musicians who enrich it with their repertoire to propose it to a wider audience.
